Before you can dive into using the Fractional App (located at fgc.goodlawyer.ca), there’s a few things you should know about setting up your account.
Add SMS Login (Optional)
Our LX team will create your account for you through our Admin platform using the preferred email you provided. You will have to login using an authentication code that will be sent to your email.
Once you have logged in with your email address, you can add a mobile phone number to receive authentication login codes in the future from your Account settings.
Add Banking and Stripe Info (Required)
Before you can access any remaining features of the App, you will need to add your banking information and create a Stripe account for invoicing purposes.
Banking Info
Please add the information for the account you wish to receive your payments in your Account settings — this information is displayed on client invoices and it helps us hit the ground running when you start your mandate to have this all set up in advance. You may update this information at any time as needed.
Stripe Setup
Stripe handles our payments, so in order for you to receive payment from Clients, you will need to complete your Stripe account setup. This process is managed by Stripe, and accounts can be created for sole proprietors or professional corporations.
All accounts, whether individual or professional corp will require a GST/HST number.
You will be required to provide a website on your Stripe account. If you do not have a website of your own, you can use www.goodlawyer.ca as the URL.
Stripe will ask you for verifying documents including government issued identification and proof of ownership/directorship if you’re using a professional corporation. Ensure that any names, addresses, or other required information matches the documents you use for verification EXACTLY, otherwise your verification will be rejected, resulting in delays on payments.
Acceptable forms of legal entity verification:
- A current and valid municipal, provincial, territorial or federal government issued document that contains the entity name and address / Un document valide et à jour délivré par les autorités municipales, provinciales, territoriales ou fédérales qui indique le nom et l’adresse de l’entité
- Corporate profile report / Rapport sur le profil de l’entreprise
- Notice of Assessment issued by the Canadian Revenue Agency / Avis de cotisation délivré par l’Agence du revenu du Canada - dated within 12 months
- Articles of Incorporation or Association / Statuts
- Notice of Articles / Avis sur les statuts
- Search for an entity on the register / Recherche de l’entité au registre des entreprises (Québec only)
- Business license / Permis d’exploitation d’un commerce
- Partnership agreement or registration / Contrat de société de personnes ou preuve d’enregistrement de la société de personnes
- A signed resolution confirming the individuals opening the account on behalf of the organization have the authority to do so (non-profits only) / Résolution signée confirmant que la personne ouvrant le compte au nom de l’entité a obtenu l’autorisation de le faire (organismes à but non lucratif uniquement)
Required information:
- Full company legal entity name that matches the legal entity name in your Stripe profile
- Tax ID from the local tax authority that matches what’s in your Stripe profile (excluding Canada)
- Company address that matches what’s in your Stripe profile
